A La Marine – 1440 TEU Container Feeder (CMB Delphis)
The Challenge:
When CMB Delphis in 2020 needed to find a BWMS for their 1440 TEU Container Feeder, A La Marine, they required a ballast water treatment system that was simple, reliable, and easy to maintain. As a smaller feeder vessel with frequent port calls, the vessel needed an onboard solution that avoided operational complexity and was unaffected by challenging water conditions.
The Solution:
A La Marine chose a Bawat onboard BWMS. Shortly after installation, Mr. Silvio Sawitzki, Head of Technical department, Oltmann GmbH & Co. KG, shared his initial impressions:
“We are very impressed with the Bawat BWMS onboard A La Marine. The system is simple, consisting of components that are well known to us already. That makes the Bawat BWMS easy to maintain and the fact that the Bawat BWMS works without a filter is a major advantage.” Silvio elaborates:
“by utilizing internal ballast water transfer when handling cargo, we have reduced the amount of ballast water exchanges needed. That combined with the Bawat treatment technology has resulted in a low operational cost next to zero”.
The Outcome:
Three years after the successful installation, Bawat reached out to Mr. Sawitzki again to hear how the system had performed. He reflected:
“The Bawat BWMS has run almost trouble-free for over 3 years and especially for smaller vessels this would be my preferred choice. The system has proven to be reliable, independent of water quality, and easy to maintain”, Silvio says.
A La Marine’s experience highlights the value of a simple, reliable, and cost-efficient treatment method. For vessels wanting a maintenance-friendly, filterless solution that performs in all water qualities, Bawat is a proven choice.
